Stills for own use

Hi.

Your site is superb and it's great to see some amazing stills I have never seen before.
I have been collecting autographs of movie stars/directors etc since 1996 onwards.
I have quite a lot on index cards and have been getting an image from your site/printed and than framed with the auto. These are hanging on my wall.
The place I got the photo printed was querying me about copyright.
I didn't think I was doing anything wrong....am I?
Well, that depends a lot, it's not even the same in every country.

The thing is that you printing it yourself at home maybe could be ok, but if they print it and sell you the print (even if it's in your demand and you come with the picture) that could be considered wrong in terms of copyright. The same would probably apply to any picture you find on the internet that is not CC, public domain or anything related. This would happen too for text that's not considered a quote in a bigger text that's your own and you're quoting in "fair use" terms.

About you doing something wrong or not I'm not sure, being you the customer probably you are not doing anything wrong yourself, it would be more likely only them those that would be doing something wrong if they agree. I mean you maybe can ask and it's them who have to say they can't.

But as I said at first, this depends a lot on the country, the particular case and all that. We're no copyright specialist and we don't claim we have the rights of pictures in the database. These are just promotional materials you can find on the internet that we try to organize in the best way for comfort.
UK here. Thank you for your reply. Yes it is a difficult situation now I have looked properly into it. They do have some policy which you accept about the copyright laws etc. These are for my own personal use and I am not selling any. Example...Chris Reeve as Superman. Not going to be able to meet him again ever. Hence why I found a superb Pic on here and framed it up with my autograph.
Sure it is ok and I am using them for my own use so I will carry on until somebody states this wrong.
And yes that is me and Arnold S :-/)
